The Pokémon Company has confirmed the prerelease promos for Pitch Black, revealing four key cards available from July 4, ahead of the set’s July 17 release. These promos include Slowbro, Miraidon, Dhelmise, and Bastiodon, each with unique abilities and strategies.
The Pokémon Company has officially revealed the prerelease promos for the upcoming Pitch Black set, which will be available from July 4, 2026, at participating local game stores. These promos, part of the Pitch Black Build & Battle Boxes, will precede the set’s official release on July 17, 2026, and are expected to influence early deck strategies.
The four prerelease promos include Slowbro, Miraidon, Dhelmise, and Bastiodon. Slowbro is highlighted as potentially the strongest, capable of dealing 210 damage with its evolved form when no cards are in hand, supported by cards like Ultra Ball and Prism Tower. Miraidon offers versatility for decks focusing on basic Pokémon, with its ability to attack for 90 damage and energize subsequent Pokémon, with the prebuilt deck including a Stage 1 Vikavolt that can reach 280 damage with a new special Voltaic Energy card.
Dhelmise features the Vengeful Anchor attack, capable of dealing 170 damage if certain discard conditions are met, with effective counters being Pokémon with the Hide ‘n’ Sneak ability, such as Banette and Sinistcha. Bastiodon, a Stage 2 Pokémon, provides damage prevention and stall tactics, though it is considered less impactful compared to the others, but it is paired with a basic Skarmory attacker with high damage potential. Additionally, the promos include the Backtrack Badge, which allows re-flipping coins for normal attacks, though its synergy with the highlighted cards remains uncertain.
Impact of the Pitch Black Prerelease Promos on Early Deck Building
The official reveal of these prerelease promos provides players with powerful new cards to incorporate into their decks before the set’s official launch. Slowbro’s potential for high damage, Miraidon’s versatility, and the strategic utility of Dhelmise and Bastiodon could influence early meta strategies and deck construction. The availability of these promos at local stores also encourages more players to participate in prerelease events, fostering early engagement with the set.
